I’m Not Happy with the Stubborn Fat on My Legs: Can CoolSculpting Help?

If you’ve been struggling to beat those pesky fat deposits on your legs, you may be fighting a battle you can’t win. Beyond lifestyle habits, genetics also play an important role in how and where your body stores fat — including those stubborn areas on your hips and thighs.

In the past, there was only so much you could do about these troublesome areas, aside from risky surgical procedures like liposuction. Fortunately, times have changed, and there’s a better, far safer body contouring option: CoolSculpting®.

Dr. Juan-Carlos Caballero and our expert team at Warrenton Dermatology & Skin Therapy Center in Warrenton, Virginia, use noninvasive CoolSculpting to eliminate stubborn areas of fat when diet and exercise fall short of getting you the results you’re after.

If you have leg fat that refuses to budge despite your best efforts, here’s how CoolSculpting can help.

Introducing CoolSculpting

The CoolSculpting system isn’t entirely new. In fact, it first received FDA clearance to treat stubborn fat in 2009. The system uses a scientific approach known as cryolipolysis, or cold temperatures, to break down fat so your body can flush it from your system.

During a CoolSculpting treatment, Dr. Caballero and his team apply special applicators to areas of your body with troublesome fat. Once activated, they deliver low and very precise temperatures to the site that target those stubborn fat cells.

When exposed to the right temperatures, fat cells freeze and die. However, other tissue in your body, like skin, organs, and muscles, do not. That means you can safely target areas of unwanted fat, like your outer and inner thighs, love handles, and bra and back fat.

All in all, CoolSculpting has FDA clearance to safely treat fat on nine different body areas, including sensitive spots like underneath the chin. And treatment can eliminate 20-25% of stubborn fat cells in a single area.

And since its creation, CoolSculpting technology has only continued to improve. Now, we also have the CoolSculpting Elite machine, which allows us to treat two parts of the body at the same time.

Getting results with CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting Elite makes it easy to say goodbye to stubborn fat on your legs. The machine relies on larger applicators that can cover more surface area in a single treatment. That adds up to faster results and lower prices.

On top of that, CoolSculpting is completely surgery-free, and you can resume regular activities immediately.

During your CoolSculpting treatment, you simply sit back and relax while the machine does all the work. Sessions take anywhere from 35 minutes to 3 hours, depending on your aesthetic goals, and the CoolSculpting Elite treats both of your legs at the same time.

For optimal results, Dr. Caballero recommends a series of treatments, with each session spaced six to eight weeks apart. However, you can often see positive changes in as little as three to four weeks after starting your plan, as your body actively flushes the treated fat cells from your system.

It’s important to note that CoolSculpting isn’t a weight loss solution. Instead, it’s designed to target those tricky areas that refuse to budge with diet and exercise. As such, people within 30 pounds of their ideal weight and a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less typically see the best results.
